Condition

Rated 8/10 โ€“ honest wear from a well-surfed life. Pressures and minor dings in the gloss, but rock solid and all original.

Provenance

Geoff McCoy, legendary Australian shaper, helped usher in the twin fin revolution in the early 70s. His boards were fast, functional, and a favorite of serious surfers. In an interview from the Encyclopedia of Surfing, McCoy reflected:

โ€œI was considered the twin-fin king in the early days… But when they came around a second time [with Mark Richards] there was no mention of our original contribution… So I thought, because of that, Iโ€™ll own the eighties.โ€
โ€” Geoff McCoy, via Encyclopedia of Surfing

He backed that up by traveling the world, testing with elite surfers, and pushing design to the next level.

Echo Beach Legacy

56th Street, Newport Beach in the 1980s was surfing’s neon-lit catwalk. With Danny Kwock, Preston Murray, and Jeff Parker leading the charge, Echo Beach defined the New Wave surf aesthetic.

โ€œNewport Beach: The Hottest 100 Yardsโ€ โ€“ Surfer Magazine, 1980
“Marketing met mania, and boards like this McCoy Twin were at the heart of it.”
โ€” Encyclopedia of Surfing
